I want to begin by saying that I believe that anytime there is conflict between a teacher and a student, the teacher is as much to blame as the student.
( This is the short version...reallyCollapse )
Then Wanda (the math teacher) tells me the clincher of this story. “M has told me that she really doesn’t need a diploma anyway. She’s going to be an exotic dancer and make more money that I do.”
I wish I knew what I'd done to this child in particular to make her so angry with me. I wonder what I could have done differently, because right now I really feel like I failed her.

Happy Birthdayday to sara_merry! I hope you had a great day!

I've just returned from a 16-day tour of your part of the world with some of my students. Everyone we met was wonderfully friendly and kind. Your islands are so beautiful!
When I came home tonight I looked across the pasture and saw that there were lights on in my parents vacant rent house. After dragging my dad out of bed and determining that they haven't shown anyone the house lately, I called the sheriff. One of the deputies came out and walked around a few times with his flashlight and the asked us for the keys.
We unlocked the door and went in. Some of the kitchen cabinets were open, but everything else looked normal. The deputy kept opening doors and then discovered the bandit in the front bedroom. A huge black and white tuxedo tomcat. My dad and the deputy think that he came in through the dryer vent. In his attempt to get out he had brushed against the kitchen light switch.
I think he was clever enough to realize that if a light was on that someone would eventually come and rescue him.
We got him shooed out the back door and he ran out the back door, only to be spooked by the deputy's back-up coming up the driveway. The last time we saw him, he was streaking through the tall grass into the back pasture, making a clean escape.

Dear
I don't really know how to tell you this, but the mafia wants you. I think I realized it when we skinny dipped at the Hare Krishna graduation and I saw you sit at my John F. Kennedy-statue. I'm sure you're ashamed enough to understand that Extreme Home Makeover sucks. I'm returning the couch cushions to you, but I'll keep the oil stocks as a memory. You should also know that I never liked a new life as a clone.
Good luck on your short-term leave from jail,
( Meme under hereCollapse )

I've worked about 14 or 15 hours over the past three days trying to finish my Data Analysis for my Capstone project. I ran into some rough spots tonight, trying to fix some sort of table and dealing with numbers, the softball coach and one of the kids dropped by, but finally I got it close to being turned in ready. Couldn't find the proper heading for the assignment, and turned it in 3 minutes late. Classmate says three minutes or three days, it doesn't matter late is late.
To think I laughed when a buddy who got out a semester before I did said this was the hardest think he'd ever done. I don't want to quit, or I'm not mad, I just feel pretty hopeless about doing well. *sigh*
I can't write a coherent sentence now...I need to go to bed

I had a lit review due tonight. I had been working on it on and off for almost a week. The professor had put up some examples, plus some instructions, but the examples and instructions weren't in the smae place. (That's my excuse,BTW) I had started it on Tuesday, but got sort of struck and came back to it late on Wedensday. I went back to the example, but not the teacher's instructions.
Tonight I was online with a friend from the class and he asked if I had done it according to the instructions. I couldn't even remember what the instructions *were*, I thought that I was on the right track since I was "emulating" the example. When i went to the posting link I found the instructions again. I wasn't following the instructions. (Which by this time I've forgotten again.)
I barely found "brain" time to do it the first time, and now I'll be revising.
*sigh*
